Max Fried, Braves look to secure a series win against Pirates

Winners of two straight, the Atlanta Braves will look to secure a series win when they wrap up a four-game series against the Pittsburgh Pirates Ronald Acuna Jr. T-Shirt. The Braves dropped the opener 6-4 in 10 innings Thursday but came roaring back with a 20-1 beatdown on Friday and a 6-1 win Saturday. Atlanta has homered 10 times in the last two games and they will try to keep that momentum up heading into Sunday. Max Fried will make his seventh start of the season for the Braves. Fried got off to a slow start allowing 15 runs over his first 11 innings before a strained hamstring sent him to the injured list. He has looked more like what the Braves were expecting since his return allowing a total of three runs in his past 17 innings. Fried allowed five hits, run and tied a season-high with eight strikeouts over six innings in his last start against the Mets. The Pirates will go with right-hander JT Brubaker who has been of their biggest surprises of the season. Brubaker has allowed three runs or less in seven of his eight starts this season. That start where he allowed more came in his last outing where he surrendered eight hits and five runs in 5 2/3 innings against the Cardinals. Brubakers slider is relied upon pitch throwing it over 35% of the time. Ronald Acuña Jr. led off Sundays game with his 15th home run of the season which leads the majors. He has homered in two straight games and three of his last four. Austin Riley continued his hot stretch Saturday with two more hits. He is currently riding a seven-game hitting streak and has 12 hits including four doubles and four homers over that span.
