A mix-up in a Simi Valley bridal store led to the police looking for two ladies who were obtaining wedding dresses they bought.
On Thursday morning, police released a message on Facebook, requesting the public’s assistance to identify two ladies who they said stole a marriage dress from the bridal store on April 9.
The Simi Valley Police Department shared a surveillance image of the 2 women, saying they posed as those who own a dress that was ready for getting, took it, and drove off inside a Tesla.
But a couple of hours after police posted the look, which was shared by multiple news outlets, who owns the store told KTLA within an email the incident would be a “ the coincidence of names.”
The Police Department retracted the content Thursday afternoon.
“ The community must understand that sometimes after suspected crimes are reported, new details are provided that clarify a celebration,” police wrote on Facebook. “ In this example, the 2 persons within the photograph happen to be cleared associated with a wrongdoing. They did not commit a criminal act, display malice, or civil misconduct.”
No further details were on how the mix-up happened.
