This version will have college all-star teams consisting of former NFL players in order to gain access to Madden Ultimate Team members. According to EA, the inclusion of Campus Legend as a sub-feature of the arcade-quickplay Superstar KO mode has led to a 600% rise in user engagement which is seven times more people, or instances of the use of Superstar KO have happened between August 2020 on Madden 21 and 2021 on Madden 22.

EA also conducted polls between Madden players using data collection. This means that they now know, for instance that the Titans acquisition of Julio Jones (and maybe the NFL's looser number rules) has led to Madden players almost doubling their usage of the Tennessee franchise. Either this or the Titans have greater fans than they did in the previous year. This puts the Titans to be the second most popular team, after the Lamar Jackson-led Baltimore Ravens. The Jacksonville Jaguars and Chicago Bears have also increased their usage as a team (the Jaguars have almost tripled it) through the drafting of Trevor Lawrence and Justin Fields as well as Justin Fields.

This weekend will feature a several other events of significance that will be linked to NFL kickoff weekend.
